Dungeon23 – Fey Hollow – March Week 5

Rooms 1-5.

Rooms 6-12.

Rooms 13-19.

Rooms 20-26.

27. Lily Pond

A pond filled with lily pads sits in the southern end of this warm grotto. A chorus of croaks echoes against the wet volcanic rock walls. A young man in fine traveling clothes sits near the muddy shore watching frogs happily hopping about.

Door. This unlocked small stone door has a frog-shaped handle.

Newton. The young man tells his story. “Once upon a time, a helpful frog retrieved a golden ring that a princess had dropped in the pond. In gratitude, the princess kissed the frog, which transformed into a handsome prince. They fell in love and lived happily ever after in the princess’s kingdom. However, the prince remained young while the princess aged. After the princess’s death, her court accused the prince of witchcraft, and he fled to his former pond, longing to return to his true form.” If the players can convince a frog to kiss the man or come up with some other solution, each player gains 300 xp.

28. Slime Pool

This open chamber has tiny holes in the stone walls and a stagnant pool in the center. The pool’s surface is covered in a thick layer of green slime that appears to be pulsing and throbbing. A cloud of sprites surrounds the pool.

Door. The heavy door is beautifully carved with dancing sprites. The door is unlocked but requires a successful DC 12 Strength (Athletics) check to push open due to their weight.

Sprites. They are gleefully throwing random junk into the slime pool. They claim to need help feeding it so they can make healing potions out of the enzymes it generates. Eventually, an enraged shambling mound bursts through the slime. The sprites flee into their holes, laughing, as the monster attacks. The mound contains googles of night and a potion of animal friendship.

29. Rug Room

Warm light and the earthy smell of incense fill this room. There are two rugs on the floor. The first is on the middle of the room and is covered in crumbs and bits of food. The rug at the west end of the room has three objects on top of it: a rock covered in reflective crystal growths, a statue of a robed figure holding a glowing axe, and a closed metal chest.

Robed Statue. The axe in the statue’s hands is glowing and is enchanted. Anybody who touches the axe must make a successful DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be teleported to room 30. If the axe is removed from the statue, it loses the enchantment.

Mimics. The rock and the chest are both mimics. They attack as soon as anybody attempts to open the chest or touch the rock.

North Door. This wooden door is unlocked.

30. Isolation Room

This large chamber has stone walls and a tiled floor. A pile of bones, a small chest, and a broken mining pick lays near a part of the north wall that is damaged.

Chest. This wooden chest contains a mining pick.

Hidden. Searching near the bones and making a successful DC 13 Intelligence (Investigation) will reveal a loose tile which conceals a bag. Inside the bag is 2d4 gems worth 5 gp each and a gold ring worth 25 gp.

31. The Armory

The simple stone walls of this room are covered in weapon racks with oversized weapons, shields, and suits of armor. Two braziers provide dim light along the edges of the room. In a large alcove is a worn straw target dummy.

Oversized Equipment. Some of the equipment in this room is enchanted. Three animated armor (Large size) and eight flying swords (Medium size) attack if any of the items in this room are touched.

Display Sword. In the center of the southern wall, about 15 feet up, is an oversized +1 longsword with a gilded handle and an emerald in its pommel. A Medium sized character or smaller treats this as a +1 greatsword.

Doors. Each of these heavy wood doors is locked. The lock can be picked with a successful DC 13 Dexterity (Thieves’ Tools) check.
