Spells: Divination

Spells of the divination school enhance the senses of the spellcaster allowing them to perceive information about the past, present, or future. They can be used to find hidden objects, predict the outcome of events, or learn about the true nature of something.


Astral Tracking

5th-Level Divination

Casting Time: 1 Action

Range: Self

Components: V, S, M (an object owned by the target, or a small piece of its body)

Duration: Concentration, up to an hour

Classes: Cleric, Warlock, Wizard

You create a link between yourself and a creature associated with the material component you used in casting this spell. The link allows you to see a faint silvery trail left behind by the creature as it moved through the astral plane. This trail allows you to track the creature across the astral plane and connects the target’s physical body with their soul if they are astral projecting. If the target physically entered the astral plane, the trail connects their body to the location where they entered the astral plane. The trail ends if the creature leaves the astral plane, but the color of the trail reveals what plane they travelled to.

Curse Sight

Range: Self (30 ft.)

Components: V, S

Duration: Concentration, up 10 Minutes

Classes: Bard, Cleric, Druid, Warlock

For the duration, you sense the presence of curses on objects, creatures, and locations within 30 feet of you. A swirling gray aura surrounds any objects, creatures, or locations effected by a curse. You learn general information about the curse’s effect and origin, and whether a remove curse spell can dispel it.

The spell can penetrate most barriers, but it is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.

Classes: Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Wizard

You gain insight into any spells being cast around you, allowing you to identify the spell level, general effect, and school of magic cast by any creature or object you can see.

Divine Hint

2nd-level divination

Casting Time: 1 action

Range: Self

Components: V, S

Duration: Instantaneous

Classes: Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Warlock

A higher power grants you a hint in solving a puzzle, riddle, or trap. The hint comes in the form of a brief insight or a clue that can help you progress past the obstacle. The hint is tailored to the specific situation and your understanding of the problem.

The hint can’t solve the puzzle, riddle, or trap on its own, but it can provide a valuable clue or direction to aid your efforts. If the obstacle is magical or supernatural in nature, the hint may reveal the source of the magic or the nature of the supernatural effect.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the spell can provide more detailed or complex hints at the DM’s discretion.
