Monster I'd Like to Fight: Duskwing Moths

Gentle Forest Gliders Pursuing Their Appetite

Habitat: Forest; Treasure: None

Duskwing moths are giant, vibrant insects with wings painted in hues of blue, green, and purple, speckled with yellow or orange. Their abdomens mirror the darker shades of their wings, and a pair of fuzzy, orange- or red-tipped antennae rest above their large, yellow eyes. Fully grown duskwing moths can reach a wingspan of up to three feet.

Primarily foraging for large flowers or fruit, duskwing moths are swift and skittish creatures, choosing flight over fight when threatened. Their gentle nature and ease of training make them preferred mounts for Kinnen, who know that the way to a duskwing’s heart is through its stomach. Experienced Kinnen riders always carry their mount’s favorite treat. Roll once on or choose a result from the Moth Food table to inspire a duskwing moth’s motivation.

Caustic Duskwing Moth

Kinnen discovered that mixing a duskwing moth’s favorite food with highly acidic ingredients can transform the insect’s natural digestion. This process enables the moth to produce potent stomach acid, imbuing its bites with caustic properties. With training, these moths can even learn to unleash a stream of acid as a weapon.
