Monster I’d Like to Fight: Bouncing Ooze

Monster I'd Like to Fight: Bouncing Ooze

The bouncing ooze emerged from a collaboration between siegesmiths and archmages from the College of War. With a mission to devise novel siege weaponry, they coated boulders with gray ooze or black pudding, yet these coatings proved unstable, sloughing off mid-flight and endangering friendly troops. Their solution: an alchemical oil that encased the ooze in a resilient membrane upon contact, enabling long-range launches while still allowing the ooze to digest organic matter in contact with its surface.

However, an unforeseen outcome arose—the ooze, now encapsulated, exhibited remarkable elasticity upon impact, causing it to bounce wildly instead of dispersing. While the bouncing ooze possessed destructive potential surpassing regular projectiles, other research avenues were pursued instead, leaving the remaining oozes stored away. An accident at the storage facility led to a cascade of bouncing oozes descending down a mountainside, releasing the majority into the wild.
