Some vampiric creatures opt to feed on beasts instead of humanoids, striking a balance between survival and the moral complexities of killing more intelligent beings. Typically, this feeding choice leads to a wake of dead beasts and a satiated vampire. However, when this feeding process is interrupted, under rare circumstances, a partially drained beast can undergo a transformation, becoming a blood spawn – a bloodthirsty version of its former self.
The transformation into a blood spawn unfolds over the course of several days and begins with excruciating pain as the creature’s body undergoes significant changes. This includes the development of enhanced musculature and the growth of large, razor-sharp teeth. Their eyes take on a blood-red hue, and if they had fur or hair, it becomes patchy or may be lost entirely. Regardless of previous diet, they now depend solely on blood and flesh for sustenance. Their supernatural ability to detect the flow of blood within other creatures makes them exceptional and terrifying hunters.
