The Vault: Arcflute

Crafted by an elven artisan whose name has been lost to time, the arcflute is a rare combination of a musical instrument and a weapon. The artisan was commissioned by an ancient sect of assassins to create a concealed weapon that could be used while infiltrating the high courts of their enemies.

When firing the weapon, the user can imbue a dart with a random magical ability. But beware, the magic imbued in the flute-blowgun is unpredictable and can backfire. A skilled flautist, however, can control the flute’s chaotic magic better than others.

Arcflute

Weapon (Blowgun), Uncommon (Requires Attunement)

While wielding this weapon, you have proficiency with the blowgun. This weapon can also be used as a flute. If you have proficiency with the flute, once per turn, you can reroll the result on the Magic Dart table and must use the new roll.

When you make a ranged attack with this weapon and hit a creature, it deals an extra 1d6 thunder damage to the target, then roll a d10 and consult the Magic Dart table:

2The target is poisoned until the end of its next turn.
3The target falls prone.
4The target is frightened until the end of its next turn.
5Each creature in a 5-foot-wide line to the target takes 3d6 thunder damage.
6The target’s exterior coloration becomes a multitude of bright colors for an hour.
7Each creature adjacent to the target takes 3d6 thunder damage.
8The target gains the enlarge option of the Enlarge/Reduce spell until the end of its next turn.
9The target gains the reduce option of the Enlarge/Reduce spell until the end of its next turn.
10You can immediately make another attack with this weapon.
