Night of Terror
The place where you lived, whether it was a small village or a neighborhood in a metropolis, was attacked one night by a horde of undead. You were among the few survivors of this attack. You gathered with others, you fought, you ran, you did what you needed to do to live until morning. That night left with you with lasting marks: regrets over what more you could have done, guilt over surviving, or scars on your body. You can choose or roll on the following table for the origin of this undead horde.
d6 | Horde Origin |
---|---|
1 | An ancient relic was uncovered and drew the attention of all the undead from the surrounding area. |
2 | Experimenting with forbidden rituals, a local priest accidentally raised the dead from a nearby cemetery. |
3 | A powerful necromancer’s army attacked to swell their ranks with fresh bodies. |
4 | After a new disease infected the local townspeople, those that succumbed rose from their graves. |
5 | Celestial bodies aligned and opened a gate to an outer plane full of undead who shambled forth into your world. |
6 | On the anniversary of an unjustly executed criminal, the curse which was their dying words came to fruition. |
