The Vault: Shield of Constellations

In the heavenly planes, a guardian celestial embodying balance assumed the mortal guise of a geometry professor. Through meticulous proofs along with astronomical engineering, she crafted a shield mirroring cosmic spirit of the stars. She then infused it with a celestial capacitor capable of storing radiant energy.

Collaborating with a guild of astronomer clerics she crafted many of these shields. Sometimes they exhibited quirks related to constellations from which the clerics drew inspiration:

d6Quirk
1It’s bearer’s footprints are highlighted by fading stardust.
2It glows softly, leaving a trail of celestial light in the air as the shield is moved
3At night, a faint harmonious hum emanates from it, creating an ambient melody.
4When struck, it emits a majestic roar that echoes through the air.
5An illusory constellation surrounds the shield’s bearer.
6When struck, a shower of sparks fly off the shield.

When it appears, creatures of your choice within the area must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 8d8 radiant damage on a failure, half on a success. The constellation remains for an hour and emits 10 feet of bright light from its edges. Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until the next dawn, or a hostile creature deals radiant or lightning damage to you.
