The Vault: Ring Finger

I found the finger in a forgotten tomb, deep within the swamp. The tombstone was cracked and weathered, marked with strange runes, but no name. I pried open the stone lid, and there it was, nestled among the bones—a rotting finger, cold and unnerving. When I retrieved it though, I could feel its resonance.

Once I returned to my cottage, I examined the finger closely. I touched it to my knuckle, where I’d lost a finger in battle with a giant crocodile. Suddenly, it attached to my hand, fusing bone and flesh. After the initial surprise, I was glad to have my finger back.

I adorned the finger with two rings. One gleamed with a sharp light, promising protection in battle, while the other granted me the ability leap large distances. I felt stronger, but as the days passed, the curse began to gnaw at me. Each morning, I woke with less breath in my chest, my movements a touch slower.

The others noticed my fading fortitude. They whispered amongst each other, casting worried glances my way. I could see their concern but didn’t care. The loss was worth the moments of glory.

Ring Finger

Wondrous Item, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

As part of attuning to this finger you must attach it to your hand. It functions as a normal finger. In addition, you can attune up to two additional magical rings if you put them on the finger. They must be of Common, Uncommon, or Rare rarity. These attunements end if the finger is detached.

Curse. This item is cursed. Attuning to it curses you until you are targeted by a remove curse spell or similar magic. As long as you remain cursed, you cannot detach the finger. While the finger is attached to you, your Constitution saving throws are reduced by 1 and your hit point total is reduced by an amount equal to your level.
