A renowned artificer forged this shield from a rare metal which was thought to have been a gift from the stars. It was crafted specifically for a captain of the realm, who was leading a campaign against a powerful cadre of demons intent on taking the kingdom. The artificer imbued the shield with both powerful defensive and offensive capabilities.
After defeating the demonic invasion, the captain continued to use the shield in many battles against the forces of evil, and it undoubtedly saved his life on numerous occasions. It became a symbol of hope and protection, being passed down through time as new heroes arose.
