Monster I’d Like to Fight: Zombivore

I’ve been tending graves for as long as I can remember, and I’ve seen some strange things in my time. But none so strange as the zombivore. ‘Tis a creature like no other – it feeds on the corpses of the undead. I’ve never seen one myself, but I’ve heard tell of them lurking in the shadows near graveyards, waiting for their next meal. Some say that zombivores are fiercely territorial, attacking anything that dares venture too close to their lairs. And what lairs they are! Piles of bones and decaying flesh, a foul-smelling warning to intruders.

I’ve heard of resurrectionists stumbling upon these creatures in pursuit of their vile profession, losing life and limb in their unfortunate encounters. Good riddance, I say! I can’t help but a hint of admiration of the zombivore, if not for the danger they pose to those of my profession as well.

Chitinous Carapace. As part of a long rest, if you have proficiency with leatherworker’s or smith’s tools, you can use your tools and zombivore remains to create a suit of zombivore scale mail. Zombivore scale mail has the same statistics as regular scale mail but is non-metal.

Fermenting Charnel. Zombivore lairs contain 3 (1d4 + 1) Medium size fetid charnel piles. A creature that starts its turn in or enters a space adjacent to a charnel pile is poisoned until the start of its next turn. As a bonus action, when adjacent to a charnel pile, a zombivore can destroy it to regain 9 (2d4 + 4) hit points.

Zombivore Glove. As part of a long rest, if you have proficiency with leatherworker’s or tinker’s tools, you can use your tools and zombivore remains to create a zombivore glove. When worn, unarmed strikes deal an additional 2 (1d4) slashing damage to undead creatures.
