The Vault: Wind-Up Gauntlet

Long ago, there lived a gnome tinkerer named Jimbolt. Small in stature but mighty in mind, Jimbolt toiled away in his workshop, crafting gizmos to solve everyday problems. However, his most prized creation was yet to come.

Frustrated by the incessant bullying of a brutish rival, Jimbolt set out to craft a device that would give him the upper hand in any confrontation. Drawing inspiration from the whirring gears of his workshop, he fashioned the wind-up gauntlet.

With meticulous precision, Jimbolt designed the gauntlet to strike the ground with immense force, unleashing a devastating cone of thunderous energy. But that was not all. He imbued it with the ability to extend its reach, allowing him to keep his foes at bay.

From modified blueprints for a machine for driving stakes into the ground, the wind-up gauntlet evolved into a weapon of formidable power. Some say it was even used in the construction of massive clockwork automatons that roamed the land.

Wind-Up Gauntlet

Wondrous Item (Gauntlet), Uncommon (Requires Attunement)

This gauntlet has 2 charges. While wearing it, you can use an action to expend 2 charges to strike the ground in front of you. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 3d6 thunder damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

When you make a melee attack, you can expend 1 charge to increase your reach by 10 feet for the attack.

As a bonus action, you can wind up the gauntlet, causing it to regain 1 charge.
