This wand has 7 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 of its charges to cast the shatter spell (save DC 15) from it.
The wand regains 1d6 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the wand’s last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the wand crumbles into ashes and is destroyed.
If you use this wand as a spellcasting focus, the verbal components of your spells echo and reverberate loudly.
Story hooks for DMs
- While exploring a cavern, the party encounter a group of dwarves. Their leader, Glendi Stonegrip, offers 1000 gp in gems to retrieve his wand of shatter from a group of kobolds. The kobolds are behind strong fortifications and traps but are willing to speak to the party. They refuse to return the wand as the dwarves were using it to destroy their tunnels. The kobolds offer the wand to the party if they can get the dwarves to leave the area.
- A wealthy noble named Lord Gravus has recently acquired the wand of shatter and is using it to demolish the homes of his political enemies in the nearby town of Kingsport. The party is offered 750 gp by the townspeople to put a stop to his destructive rampage and retrieve the wand. However, Lord Gravus has hired a group of mercenaries to protect him and the wand.
- The party hear rumors of a horned bulette rampaging in a nearby forest. It has made a lair in the ruins of an ancient wizard tower. It is a bulette with the devilish template applied. Among the treasures in the tower is a wand of shatter.
