The talon blade’s origins are shrouded in mystery, with tales of its creation lost to the mists of time. Yet, it is known that this weapon has been passed down through generations, from monarch to heir, during a turbulent age of upheaval. Each royal knight that bore this blade into battle fought valiantly against barbaric invaders, but alas, no empire lasts forever.
When the kingdom fell into ruin, the blade vanished without a trace. However, in time, it would resurface in the hands of warriors of great repute. Some tell of a mighty general who wielded the sword to unite a kingdom torn apart by strife. Others speak of a fierce barbarian who carved a bloody path through enemy ranks with the sword’s deadly prowess. Legends even tell of a cunning mercenary who used the blade to secure victory in countless battles, and of a ruthless pirate captain who carried it as a symbol of her nautical dominance.
Despite its many owners, the talon blade remains an enigmatic weapon. Perhaps it lies hidden still, waiting for a new champion to arise and claim it as her own.
Talon Blade
Weapon (Longsword), Rare (Requires Attunement)
This magic longsword has the finesse property. If you are proficient with shortswords or longswords, you are proficient with the talon blade.
While grasping the hilt, you can use a bonus action to cause up to 2 extra blades to spring into existence (2 extra blades maximum). For each extra blade, you gain a +1 bonus to melee damage rolls made with this weapon.
As an action, you can launch up to two of the sword’s extra blades at targets up to 60 feet away. Make a ranged weapon attack for each blade. On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects. The launched blades then disintegrate.
