I never asked to be an adventurer. Just wanted to sit in me wizard tower, turnin’ rats into teacups or some such. But then Grunk stomped into me life, seven feet of muscle, bad decisions, and a greatsword always covered in some poor sod’s blood. “You’s comin’ with,” he said. Next thing I know, I’m dodgin’ arrows, eatin’ dirt, and watchin’ Grunk chargin’ headfirst into every ambush like a drunken owlbear.
It all went pear-shaped in the Bone Pits. Skeletons everywhere, clickin’ an’ clackin’. And Grunk? He’s takin’ a nap in a pile of ‘em. “I’s invincible!” he yells, right before three bony gits stick him like a kebab. So there I am, no shield, no guard, just me spellbook and desperation.
I yanked the book up just as a skeleton’s rusty sword came down. Thwack! The blade stuck right in the pages, wedged between magic missile and grease. “Oi! That’s me fireball chapter!” I screeched, kickin’ it in the shins. Next thing, spell pages be flyin’ loose, mergin’, and I find meself shrouded in a mystical glow.
By the time Grunk woke up, the fight was over, and me spellbook was a bit shredded, but still intact. “Zik,” he says, grinnin’ like a loon, “you’s the best shield I ever had.” I groaned.

This shield has 3 charges and regains all spent charges at dawn. As a Bonus action, you can expend 1 charge to cast the shield of faith spell.
You can use this shield as an Arcane Focus. As a Magic action, you can expend 1 spell slot of 2nd level or higher to gain proficiency with shields for 1 hour.
