In an epoch long past, an anonymous champion emerged victorious in an encounter with a formidable gorgon, a creature of dread. In the culmination of their triumph, the hero severed the bovine beast’s razored horns, an indomitable testament to their conquest. These gorgon horns possess extraordinary faculties. When affixed to the one’s forehead, they confer several abilities.
First, the possessor gains the capacity to assail adversaries with formidable horned strikes. These puncturing blows are capable of inflicting significant damage upon one’s foes. Secondly, the gorgon horns shield the user from being rendered an immobile statue under the gaze of any creature possessing the power to transmute flesh into stone. Lastly, the wearer can exhale gas that immobilizes those caught within its cloud.
Yet, one must exercise caution, for protracted employment of the gorgon horns may subtly reshape the possessor’s consciousness, mirroring the essence inherent in the beast itself. Over time, this influence has the potential to awaken monstrous inclinations, perhaps even eclipsing the user’s own identity.
Gorgon Horns
Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement)
These metal horns attach to your head as part of the attunement process. They detach when attunement ends. While attuned you gain the following benefits:
- Gore. As a bonus action, you can make one melee attack with your horns, dealing piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier.
- Iron Flesh. Immunity to the petrified condition.
- Stone Breath. As an action, you exhale gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be restrained until the end of your next turn. Once you use this action, it can’t be used again until the next dawn.
