Monster I’d Like to Fight: Golephant

Aye, as I was explorin’ th’ ancient ruins, I stumbled upon a massive creature known as a golephant. It towered o’er me, standin’ at least 10 feet tall, wi’ a thick, gray stone-like exterior. Its right hand was a massive blade that gleamed menacingly in th’ dim light.

I sensed a strange loyalty emanatin’ from th’ creature. Legends spoke o’ its powerful magic and connection to its creator’s life force, givin’ it an unbreakable bond o’ protection. I thought, better leave it be, and them ruins still be unexplored to this day.

Foreblade. As part of a long rest, if you have proficiency with leatherworker’s or smith’s tools, you can use your tools, golephant remains and 50 gp in additional materials to create a foreblade. The blade is formed into any simple or martial melee weapon that deals slashing damage (chosen when created). If you take damage while wielding the blade, as a reaction, you can destroy the blade and reduce the damage taken by half.

Hoofboots. As part of a long rest, if you have proficiency with cobbler’s or tinker’s tools, you can use your tools, golephant remains and 100 gp in additional materials to create a set of hoofboots. When wearing these boots, as a bonus action, you can take the Dash action and roll 1d4. On a 1 the boots are destroyed.

Wee Scorn. Golephants harbor an intense hatred for the little folk of the world, preferring to focus their attacks on Small or smaller creatures when facing them in combat.

Bully. When the golephant deals damage to a creature that is Small or smaller, that creature must make a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Immutable Form. The golephant is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.

Magic Resistance. The golephant has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Actions


Multiattack. The golephant makes two Foreblade attacks.

Foreblade. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing or slashing damage.

Blade Dash (Recharge 5-6). The golephant moves up to 30 ft. in a straight line. Each creature in its path must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 14 (3d6 + 4) slashing damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one.

Reactions


Parry. The golephant adds 2 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it.
