Aldon the Lost was a gnome afflicted with insatiable curiosity, and his experiments often led him to the uncharted nexus of magic and technology. He became obsessed with the concept of manipulating energy through time and was determined to create an item that would allow him to bend the fabric of reality. To achieve this, he delved into the secrets of the multiverse and sought out mystical beasts: dragons.
Dragons were known for their deep connection to the elemental forces, and Aldon believed that by harnessing the essences of these majestic creatures, he could unlock the secrets of energy manipulation. He spent years studying the behaviors of various dragons, from the fiery reds to the frosty whites and all those between. Through his research, Aldon developed a profound understanding of the diverse elemental energies that dragons embodied.
The chromatic chronometer was the culmination of Aldon’s lifelong work. He designed this magical timepiece as both a spellcasting focus and a conduit for manipulating the damage types of spells. To create it, he carefully infused gems with rare dragon essences and bound them to an internal, chronometer. The result was an ornate, locket-sized timepiece with a complex system of gears and crystals that displayed the ever-shifting essence of dragons.
