The Vault: Wand of Wonder (Walls)

In a dingy tavern along a well-travelled highway, a rather unremarkable bard named Noam found himself holding the wand of wonder (walls) at his side. This ancient implement was reputed to have the ability to summon mystical barriers. Noam, having just failed to impress the barkeep with his juggling routine, decided that magic would be a more effective distraction. Unfortunately, the wand had other plans.

With a dramatic flourish, Noam waved the wand, expecting a spectacular arcane wall to emerge. Instead, he was serenaded by the soft, melancholic strains of a somewhat dubious tune from a bygone age. The song floated through the air, causing the barkeep and her patrons to pause in bewildered confusion. One particularly grumpy half-orc, halfway through a menacing growl, found himself inexplicably moved.

Noam, flustered but determined, tried once more to conjure a wall. The bard’s exasperation mounted and he slashed at the air with his wand while whispering an incantation. A line of frost extended across the wooden floor, bursting upwards into a wall of ice. The barkeep, seizing the moment, pressed a pitcher of lager against wall’s frigid edge and, for the evening’s remains, chilled libations were enjoyed by all.
