The Vault: Dungeon Dice

Dungeon dice. A set of ancient dice, each carved with the arcane symbols. Roll them, and use the symbols to craft a dungeon: stone corridors, traps, hazards, monsters, adventurers, and treasure.

Alistair Swift, a gambler with a sinister grin and unmatched luck, once carried these dice. He bested all comers. Oddly, his opponents were never too upset, as even in defeat they felt the enchantment of the dice.

Years later, General Aric Thunderhoof used the dice to raise the morale of his troops. On the eve of battle, they played, their minds sharpened, their spirits lifted. The games gave them strength, a mystical boost that served them well.

Tales tell of divine origins. Trickster gods once played with these dice, creating dungeons they could manifest to test their subjects. A mortal, perhaps Swift, outwitted them to claim the dice.

Dungeon Dice

Wondrous Item (Dice Set), Uncommon

This dice game mixes strategy with luck, in which players compete to build the most challenging dungeon. As part of a long rest, you and your allies can play the game. Each participant can make a Wisdom (Dice Set) or Intelligence (Dice Set) ability check; the highest roll wins. The winner gains inspiration if they don’t have it already. This inspiration is lost if it is not used before the next long rest. The other participants gain 1d8 temporary hit points.
